What are you having for christmas dinner?

You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

We're having Malay Spiced Tofu with vegetable fried rice.

Vegan and non-Christmassy really does mean just that in this house!

My lovely Mother in law is cooking trad Turkey and all the trimmings but I am cooking the starter of scallops on chorizo with a sherry and orange sauce ala Simon Rimmer

But first I will be going gig rowing for a couple of hours with a large dose of real ale mixed in

Have a fantastic day all

We are having turkey and the usual veg. Home grown sprouts for the first time, plus nut roast for vegetarian daughter. Only thing that throws me is keeping the gravies separate. Has anyone got a tried and tested recipe for red cabbage? for next year perhaps. Happy Christmas everyone!! pbf

There's that one of Jamie Oliver's on the Sainsbury website - looks intriguing.... I was going to try it & you've just reminded me that I didn't actually BUY a red cabbage!

We're starting off with crayfish tails with rocket and tomatoes in sauce (prawn cocktails in disguise), roast "Mock Turkey" with all the usual roast veggies, including sage and onion stuffing once I can get my act together long enough to nip down the lane and pick some I spotted growing over a wall, then Xmas pudding (I cheated and brought it back from the UK in October) with Creme Anglaise.

Unfortunately I have just had a horrible dose of flu and my taste buds seem not to have recovered yet so we may just as well be having sheets of cardboard. I was convinced everything had gone off yesterday and had to be stopped from emptying the newly stocked fridge! About the only thing I can taste properly is creamy soup, grapes and those little caramel "flan" things. Oh well, must be good for me...
Growing old is much better then the alternative!
