Mine hasn't appeared above ground yet which is the first time ever. :( Normally it starts sprouting straight away. All I did different this year was buy some garlic as I didn't have any old half sprouting stuff lying around - maybe that is the problem?
I bought some this year too for the first time. I got 2 sorts, red and white, I planted them back in November and the red ones sprouted almost immediately but the white ones didn't sprout until the beginning of this month.
I put 6 cloves of the red ones in the polytunnel and they now have leaves about a foot tall, so hopefully I'll get a nice early crop of wet garlic.

Well I planted Garlic, but looking at my pots, it appears I grew snow, and lots of it.

It hit a heady 13°C here today, so I got out and planted broad beans and some well-spaced rows of onion sets with a view to future sowings of carrots.

And the hens have started laying again.

If it stays like this - and it might - tomorrow is going to be a very, very busy day.

last saturday i sowed coriander, spinach, tomatoes and strawberrys that have been sitting on the inside of my window sill. i've watered them a little twice a day and this evening when i came home from work i noticed that all of the spinach had 1cm shoots and the coriander had shoots just popping out of the soil. i couldn't believe that this had happened after only 6 days.

it's looking as if the cold snap is going to last through to at least mid week so you might have to wait a few days. it's some weather isn't it and there's to be very heavy snow again tomorrow :triplets:

Does anybody know about sowing leeks in pots indoors this time of year? I can't seem to find much information about it but I really do like leeks.
