I had some bread scraps lying about and didn't know what to cook tonight.
So I made an savoury bread pud......no exact quantities given, but just to give you an idea, I just eyeballed everything.
preheat oven 180 celsius.
cut stale bread in cubes, put in shallow dish.
whisk about two large eggs with about 200 ml milk and add to that two big teaspoons of mustard (I used dyon)
pour over bread, let soak a while ......
sprinkle with grated cheese (I used gouda but cheddar is about the same) to taste and put in oven.
bake about 35 ish minutes till top is golden and crusty.
it will puff up a bit and you can cut it (at least, with MY bread) like a quiche.
optionals:
to this bread cubes you can add any leftover veg, meat, whatever you fancy, before soaking but then use some more milk if needed.
a very ish dish :) I served it with a cherry tomato salad but any salad will work......or other veggies.

Re: savoury bread pudding :)
Ihave always wondered about a savory bread pudding,
That sounds delish, would be nice with bits of bacon I am thinking.

mmmm, takes me back, my mum used to make a savoury bread and butter pudding when we were wee - used chopped up sausages in it along with cheese.
