Hi...not sure if this is the right place to post...I'm sure someone will let me know if it's not
Can anyone identify this beautiful berry bush? I aquired it from a neighbour of mine 2yrs ago...I noticed some flowers on it last spring, then red berries in the winter...but this spring it looks so lovely...the pic doesn't do it justice!! Oh and another quick question...I planted some privet a couple of years ago which is coming on really well, I wondered if there were any other type of bush/privet that I could plant in between each 'plant' to give it some extra colour as it develops??
You beat me to it - I arrived in England, walked out into my mum's garden and there was that shrub! She didn't know what it was either so we looked it up in a plant book. It was absolutely covered in unusual bees I'd never seen before - big like bumble bees but black with an orange bum!
Anyway I was really surprised cos I only have the non evergreen purple berberis and stupidly imagined all berberis would be like that!
Must have been the red tailed bumble bee, but the queen. Do they come out of their nests to visit flowers though? I don't know anything about bees but thought that queens just stayed in the nest.
