Rhubarb overload

You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

Rhubarb overload

Post: # 153146Post Mr and Mrs luvpie »

Ok today we picked about a quarter of the rhubarb off our plot, having just diced it up, put some aside for tomorrows pudding I'm left with nearly 6Kg, we've already gone through 2Kg in puddings and schnaps so far in the last month, I've seen the recipes for wine and jam, but would love to know if anyone has a recipe for a Rhubarb Ale, I know that a major brewery started to sell this, this year, but would love to do something along those lines ourselves.

Unfortunately we don't know enough about brewing (as yet) to be able to adapt something else to fit Rhubarb, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Don't know about rhubarb ale but just thought I would let you know that at the back of Nigella Lawson's domestic godess book there is a recipe for a brown sauce. The main ingredient is rhubarb.

I make enough at this time of year to last us through till next spring. It keeps really well. Last year I used about 14k of the stuff (in several batches) and gave some away for christmas pressies too.

Cool thank you I'll look that up, I just hate the thought of it going to waste and although I've got loads in the freezer I really need to de-frost that ready for the summer fruit. Everyone that I've offered some too so far has said that they are not keen on Ruhbarb!
