What size portions?
Just wondering how big your main meal of the day usually is?
As an example, if you were having jacket potatoes with cheese, if the spuds were really big ones, how many would you have each, and do you have a dessert?
I'm wondering this because my daughter had a meal at her BF's house recently and they had 3 large potatoes each. They gave her two because they know she can't eat as much as them. But even two to me seems excessive. We have one each, or if they're not quite so big we might have an extra half. Although we are happy with these portions, and I don't intend to change them just to conform, I'm just wondering how we compare. Do we have bird portions, or do they have mammoth portions? I'm guessing both.

I'd be a one spud man, with a bit of salad on the side.
How can anyone really eat three and still expect to move afterwards !!!

Re: What size portions?
Depends on the size of the spud really... 2 little-ish ones or 2 large one, with plenty of filling and salad on the side

According to my daughter, they were the really big potatoes.
Maybe they store them in their cheeks for later
I guess we're all different, it's just hard to imagine eating that much and still enjoying it.

We usually have one and a half each, unless they're whoppers and then I'll just cook one each. Himself has a HUGE appetite and would probably eat more if I put them on his plate though! I do cook quite big meals but we rarely have puds.

One spuds enough for me....... as long as it has loads of filling!

it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

Re: What size portions?
Just the one for me with beans and cheese and salad on the side. I would also have a pudding of some description.
Re: What size portions?
I have enough potato to fill one quarter of the inner ring of an average size dinner plate without too much piling up. This is generally 3 or 4 small new potatoes or 1 or 2 medium (average) potatoes. I also do this with rice and pasta. It's a good visual cue for a carb portion and I didn't lose seven stone by not learning the cues.
I'd generally only have really large ones if I was actually having baked potatoes - and that's an exception to the one quarter rule. When eating baked tatties I generally have two and loads of filling. I have a bit of a weakness for the humble baked potato.

Just the one for me - and I'd not bother with pud.

Just one for me too, even if it is a small one, leaves more space for the filling that way.
`soft cheese or egg mayo and tonnes of salad.
We hardly ever have pud
makes it more special when we do though

Re: What size portions?
We'd have one fist sized one, we even split bigger ones such as the HUGE sized Sweet Potatoes we bought recently. We really don't eat big portions at all!
If we have pudding it's usually a piece of fruit.
I can't imagine eating that much in a day let alone a sitting

Re: What size portions?
I don't eat baked potatoes as a meal on their own but as a side veg with something else, so I definitely don't go for more than one, unless they are really dinky! It's hard to get decent sized baking spuds in France anyway.

Re: What size portions?
I'm overweight mainly due to oversized portions (which we're battling to reduce
) but even I couldn't eat more than one decent sized jacket spud.
