How do i get rid of a family of foxes

The whole reason for the selfsufficientish website was to offer a place where anyone can ask, HOW DO I...? So who knows why it has taken us so long to have a HOW DO I? section, but here it is. So if you want to know how to do anything selfsufficientish then here is the place to ask.

Depends how barbaric you want to be. You could shoot them with a .22 air rifle. Wait until it gets dark then shine a 1 million candle torch at them which will stop them in their tracks for a few seconds and then try and get a clean shot to the head.

If you are too much of an animal lover then try and enclose your garden with chicken wire dug 6 inches into the ground in an L shape with the bottom bit of the L facing out.
No matter how much you push the envelope, it'll still be stationery

I can honesty say I think some one on our street is feeding them, twice now brazen as day I’ve seen one of the big foxes leap across our fence with a baby duckling of some sort our next doors boss lives down the rd and next door was saying how the foxes walked in to his kitchen while the baby was playing.. I understand there a lot of fox lovers around so were going try diffent methods this week, Today I saw the baby foxes on my veggie patch scratching so I screamed at them lol they ran so we will see….i don't think id need to use a gun as i might get arrested lol!

there is something you can spray in your garden that should put them off - not sure how organic or not it is, I believe the smell deters them but (I'm sorry) I cant remember what on earth its called.

did a quick google and found this - not what I was thinking about but it might work http://www.primrose-london.co.uk/wild-a ... googlebase

found this too http://www.foxolutions.co.uk/foxolutions.htm
Scoot

Widely acclaimed as the most effective fox repellent on the market Scoot is a patented non toxic formula used to keep foxes away from protected areas. It works by mimicking scent marking odours thus leading any foxes that may be present to vacate the area in the belief that another animal has taken over its territory. Scoot is totally safe for use in gardens, on plants and edible crops and is humane, bio-degradable and very effective.

Get Off My Garden

Get Off My Garden is a citronella scented jelly granule product. Specific applications are for defending soil areas such as flower beds or planters against fouling and digging.

Wash And Get Off

Wash and Get Off spray is a unique two in one formula that will not only clean up fox fouling but will also remove the associated territory scent thus protecting the area from further attack. Supplied in a ready to use 500ml sprayer Wash and Get Off leaves a fresh citrus aroma after application. Particularly effective on hard surfaces such as patios and driveways. Also effective against cat and dog fouling.
To purchase any of our fox repellents visit our online store or you may prefer to call us on 0870 760 2634 during normal office hours and we will be happy to take your order.

still cant find the one I know about - think it starts with an R - not much help though

I am sure that I have read that adult male urine around the boarders will deter them. I am sure that people here have used it when they have chickens.

Good luck!!

You see, here we call the local gun club if we have errant foxes... they then come armed to the gunnels on a Sunday morning & invade the woods & surrounding fields... a lot of shouting and a couple of bangs later & they come back to their cars with a tail or two....Or you could use a spade, like Camile does

Problem is, it sounds like your foxes are urban foxes & they're a whole different ball game altogether..... Lion or Tiger poo is supposed to work though..... but I wouldn't like to be the one asking the local wildlife park for it
The more people I meet, the more I like my garden

Try to avoid watering late in the day as the foxes dig the damp Earth looking for slugs etc.

An urban fox can EASILY scale a six foot fence: I know 'cos I've watched this happen on several occasions. As for chicken wire, you'll need to bury it over two feet down to have any effect & be sure to get the none rusting sort.

I don't have any problems with foxes these days...I have two ex-racing, killing machines!

Thanks for your help guys! I can easy say -fingers crossed- the b/f ex water supply is working!!! He thinks it’s the most funniest thing in the world as I been giving him milk cartons at the end of the day to go I think the nabours been as posh as they are would have issues seeing my b/f doing as nature does in garden lol..But I can say its worked…they haven’t been near the tulips. They haven’t been near the garden patch! Yay though I found a slugs/snails trial but no leaves have been bitten I don’t mind if they eat the baby leafs as adult leaves come though the radishes, and as for sweet corn I’ve no idea lol! So for now I am one happy lil chicka hopefully have lovely harvest of veggies this summer !

thank you so much people!

Have you tried contacting your council's vermin control dept? they might be able to help, if not deal with them directly.

I would say foxes (in an urban setting) are vermin.... it might be worth a try.
