Home made soap moulds

Hi all

For the moderators, please feel free to move this. I was not sure where to stick it - and was afraid to ask in case I got told

I make my own soap and thought I would share one of the easiest moulds that I use.

Full details over here but basically take some PVC pipe and cut to size.

Size is pure guesstimation

Cut pipe





When filled with your favourite soap recipe, cap and stand until cooled down.

When the tubes are cool enough, remove caps, push soap along pipe and cut.





Voila! Soap ready to cure and pack in a few weeks





Prior to packing, you can trim up for neatness, especially if reselling to the public.

When I get a round to it I will post pictures of my glove moulds used for (you guessed it) making hand soap

Brill, great pics...that looks like hot process soap????

I used to do this before I went into big wooden boxes...but I used square drainpipes...I found out that 12 or them fitted exactly into old cooler boxes (bought at car boot fairs) which was great for keeping them upright when pouring and fantastic for insulating through the gel stage with some card and old towels on the top! often mine got a bit stuck when um molding...so I popped them in the freezer for about an hour and they slid out like magic...freezing seemed to improve the texture of the soap too!!!!!

Cool! I use washed out Pringles tubs and then rip off the tub when i'm ready to unmold.

I like your PVC tubing though!

On my blog I mention that there are 2 ways to get the soap out if you have problems.

One is to freeze it for a while - slightly shrinks the soap and the other is to make a pushy outer thingy with a wheel on a dowel to act as a plunger

Both work well.
