Was that sown from wildflower seed mix? I see patches like that here and there round here which have obviously been sown and are quite different from the natural wildflowers.

Thankyou Davy ... It a sown batch MMM but the fact that the council care enough to have sowm them in several areas is good ... It stops them wandering round with those nasty weedkilling sprays for one thing.

It's a shame you don't see cornflowers growing in the wild any more - tons of poppies everywhere but that vivid blue with the red looks wonderful! Ox-eye daisies are all coming out at the moment and they are one of my fave wild flowers.

Hi Silver Ether,
Lovely photo's but the third one isn't an orchid, its Purple-loosestrife, Lythrum salicaria. You often find it growing in damp ground near ponds and rivers.
