oiled jumpers

Post: # 165322Post VSS »

I know that if you use wool with the lanolin left in a jumper / hat etc will "turn" the weather, but that a damp woolly like this can you leave you smelling a little like a sheep.

Is it possible to knit your jumper with fully scoured wool and then rinse it in water with something oily added to it, say linseed oil, to achieve the waterproof effect with out the smell?

Pretty sure you can buy lanolin to treat wool (natural untreated wool should be treated every so often anywhoos) I think it is liquid and you put it in your washing machine but I have never used it... have a google or look on ebay.
