Knitting Pattern or Granny boots patterns anyone?
Does anyone have a knitting pattern for a really simple slash neck jumper? Ive been everywhere to find one but they all seem to be shaped or have tight necks and Im not keen on having anything tight around my neck! Also Ive been trying to find a pattern of the fabric type, not knitting, for those felt, granny boot slippers,Im so fed up with cheap badly made shop slippers that fall apart in a few weeks that Ive decided to make my own (and Ive got some really funky fabric to make them with!) if anyone has either please let me know and Ill sort out things with you, thanks.
Now, what did I come in here for??????

I knit a lot of jumpers, but rarely use a pattern... Have you tried charity shops? I bought several pattern books for very little money. I could have a look if I find something that might be right for you amongst my lot - maybe you could give me bit more information, what type of yarn you want to use, what size etc.? (My next project is a "proper" Guernsey, or Gansey. Very fine wool, needle size 2mm!)

I think this is the one you will like but I'll leave the rest on just in case...

Thank you both! The 1st jumper pattern was just about what I meant (although I have no idea as to what "turn" meant in the 1st instance, just after casting on the required stitches! Ina,thanks for the offer,Im a size 12 normally and was thinking of something in a cotton type wool as Im a bit of a softee and tend to come out in lumps if the wools at all itchy. All the patterns Ive found in the charity shops tend to have round necks or polos and I dont like the feeling of a high neckline,I have a lovely pattern for a childs jumper, which all my kids have at least three of and tried (unsucessfully) to grade the pattern to adult size, its such a shame as it such a simple design, basically two rectangles for the body and slightly shaped arms.If you do find anything Id be most grateful.

I think with "turn" they just mean that you work backwards and forwards, not in the round... I have my problems with the English knitting terminology, although I'm slowly finding my way around it!
I'll have a look through my books when I get back to the house.

I have found 3 pattern for jumpers with slash necks - in the Elle Knitting Book, 50 exclusive designs from France (1985). One has batwing sleeves... (haven't seen that for a while!). They are all made with quite chunky yarn- doubleknit doubled up! If you think that might fit the bill, pm me your address and I can send you copies. (They are all for bust sizes 81/86/91cm.)

Thanks Ina but I think that doubled double knitting wool might be a little warm for the Summer! I was thinking of trying to knit two rectangles for the front and back and two for the sleeves as all the patterns Ive found seem to be too fitted and Im thinking more on the lines of a sloppy joe! Thanks ever so for looking through your patterns for me and for the web links.Im going to try the slippers as well, they look funky!
