Beef bourguignon

You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

Beef bourguignon

Post: # 172909Post thesunflowergal »

Hi

I haven't made this in ages, as its normally reserved for the winter. I am trying to remember what to chuck in the slow cooker, so far I have got:

Beef (might help  )
Bacon
Red wine
stock
Carrots
Mushrooms
Celery??
Onions
Seasoning and garlic

I can't get my brain in gear today, so I need some help please.

Thanks Nikki

I think if you're being authentic it should be shallots not onions, but as I couldn't be bothered peeling all the little buggers it's onions all the way. The only thing I could think of was thyme - I'm fairly sure that'd be in it, or a bouquet garni.

Gosh, bravo for being able to spell it (that's if it is spelt correctly  ) - I may be living in france but I can never spell that bloomin' word!

I don't even know if there is a proper recipe for it - it's just beef stew innit? With a bit of wine splashed in I expect.

Thanks both!!

MMM, ok I googled the spelling first . I used to live in the Dordogne, my French was quite good but that was a long time ago now and I am very very rusty.
