HI all,
Ive been given some tree lily seed pods and wondered how hard it will be to grow them from seeds, as it seems they are bought in bulb form!
Thanks
Nick
Tree Lily from seed?
Re: Tree Lily from seed?
Your post made me stop and think, Nick. We have several tree lilies. They grow and flower each year and eventually go to seed - which we completely ignore. Yet there are no little lilies ever sprouting up around Mum. I suppose that should tell me that germination should be in a warm place - indoors if you happen to be in the UK, I shouldn't wonder. Apart from that, there's no reason I can see why you wouldn't be successful.
Of course, it'll be only in the second year that you'll see any flowering, which is probably why most people grow from bulbs. Anyway, you already have the seeds - what have you got to lose?
