Meet Doric!

Post: # 181435Post Green Aura »

I've just received my new, although quite old, Esse Doric stove. It will replace the old Franco-Belge boiler (but not until it's warm enough to do without heating for a day or two :shaking:

It's so cute. And I'll be able to cook more than with just a couple of pans on the top of the boiler.

I love ebay. :santa:

You must have searched a long time for the pale pink and light grey model, so cool.

I remember cooking on a wood burning stove in France, really cheap white enamelled sheet steel type, but it was so efficient, would go all day on what seemed like just a few twigs.

Happy baking Green Aura

It was the size that sold it not the colour! We already have a flue and chimney and didn't want to have to do major work moving it. This one fits to the existing structures.

But you're right, it's taken ages to find it. I been looking ever since I moved two and a half years ago.

Pity these lovely stoves are no longer made,I would love one. They are a good size for use on boats allthough too big for a back cabin[traditional 8ft cabin at the back of old canal boats]

I would love an old stove like that... but how do you go about having it installed and serviced properly? will you be doing it yourself? I'd love to hear about your progress on it.

I am nervous about getting hold of something like that then never being able to have it fixed up :?

Congrats GA, If only we were not in a smoke control area !!

Having said that when anyone sets fire to a few garden twigs round here and I'm out with the dog I can hardly breathe and my chest heaves something rotten so maybe smoke control areas have their good points...

Don't come up here in winter then Al! Everyone has a coal, wood or peat fire.

Except for the Council houses, which have just been "upgraded" and had the woodburners removed - go figure :?
