Post: # 187890Post chadspad »

Now, Im kinda figuring if you know what this plant is youre going to read on, if not you probably wont bother lol. Its an amazing carnivorous plant with hanging down tubry things that eat flies. My hubby is madly into these carnivorous plants - has many varieties ad theyve all done weel until recetnly. His Nepenthes has lost its beautilf green colour, has speckled brown spots and doesnt look well at all. Does anyone have any knowledge of these plants?

Doesn't look too bad! It's bigger than mine! What conditions you keeping it in? Have you given it any tap water?

No only has rain water. You cant really tell from the phot but its kind of mottled with brown spots and is a really dull colour. Hubby thinks its from lack of proper sunlight. Its in a sort of conservatory. It is big just looks bt sorr for itself!

Do you think it might actually be too warm? Some of the highlands ones need to be quite cool at least some of the time. They need a lot of light but if they are in full sun they can burn. Plus I kept them in a fly lab so they were always well fed but I don't know what they look like when they are 'hungry', is it getting any insects going into the pitchers? I hope it perks up, they're lovely plants.

I'll see what I can do, I can't for the life of me find my camera lead :dontknow:  Like I said, it's much smaller than yours (it arrived as a tiny cutting a few inches tall, mail order) but it is a brighter green and now it's growing a tiny baby plant from the botton of the stalk. It looks a bit sorry at the moment as I forgot to water it the other week :(
