Gave up alarm clocks with the stressful job - hurrah

Now i wake up with the sun, obviously earlier in the summer and later in the winter. None of the animals is in the slightest bit interested getting up before daylight so no rush.

I used to get up with my teen for the school bus - but not being a natural morning person anyway I was TOLD to stay in bed until I awoke naturally as when woken I am unbearable - apparently - can't see it myself.

But isn't that early for much of the year? I'm not a morning person and wake up best at around 8:30 to 9am. At the moment I'm setting my alarm so that I can let the chickens out as soon as it gets light, then I'm going to bed and trying to get back to sleep. My body it telling me the chickens can wait. Surely all you other chicken/animal keepers don't jump out of bed at the crack of dawn every day throughout summer?

It's not daylight here until about 6am in summer which is fine by me. I let the chooks out at about 7am and the rest of the year I'm up before daylight anyway. When you become a farmer Rosie you have to get up to see to the animals whether you like it or not.

 Oh my, I think I was feeling a bit sorry for myself last night
I'm still getting used to the getting up early thing with the chickens. When I got them, I knew this is what I would have to do but I decided it was worth such a minor sacrifice. I'm just at a silly stage where I'm not getting enough sleep and feel washed out by mid afternoon, because I can never convince myself to go to bed earlier.

Yep Rosendula - up with sun so very early in summer and quite a bit later in winter. We have shutters on the windows but I dont like to close them so if it is too early to get up - I read in bed and hide myself away until I am human.

Our birdies like to be up with the sun, and start trying to take the door off the chicken house as soon as they can see the sun coming through the pigeon holes.

Joys of animal husbandry. :sunny:
