101 Uses For is popular and let's hope it stays that way. Our second book is presently called 101 tips for self sufficiency; we will certainly dip into this section for ideas. So post away and let's try and get at least one thread up to 101.
Our remote ancestors said to their mother Earth, "We are yours."
Modern humanity has said to Nature, "You are mine."
The Green Man has returned as the living face of the whole earth so that through his mouth we may say to the universe, "We are one."
This advice came from a doctor when he was treating my premmature son at about 9 months, 6 months adjusted age.
Just dip your finger in vodka and rub onto babies' gums when they are teething. It numbs the gums. No more than every four hours.
About a teaspoon mixed with just a little juice to bring down a fever. He said if the fever is back in four hours, you need a doctor.
I tried both and they work. I still do it with older kids, just use about an ounce (the youngest is 9 years now).
He said a little vodka was actually safer for my premie's liver, or any person with a normal liver actually, than acetomenophen or ibuprofin. New research says he was right. Maybe our grandmothers did know what they were doing.
"You are a strange little mouse."
"Thank you." -Tale of Despereaux
i used to do it at Uni when i could only afford the cheap rough stuff. You can do it with any strong alcohol and sweets. Use boiled sweets for the best effect.
Bear in mind, if you use Werther's originals or any creamy boiled sweets, you need to shake it before you drink it because the creamy bit separates. The strawberries and cream campinos are gorgeous when drunk in vodka!!
After reading all the things you can use vodka for, I'm not sure that drinking it is very sensible!
I used it at uni to get some ink out of some clothing - it worked a treat.
Prefer it with ice and cranberry juice though!
We use it to get sticker residue off school clothing, and then drink some to numb the pain of being annoyed at the school for continually handing out stickers!
How do you live your life when there's nobody watching?
