From Elderflower Champage to spirits

Post: # 203242Post trinder »

hi, I have had a couple of goes at the champagne but have had more success with the cordial thus far. However I decided to do the champagne in a demi john and watch the bubbles, after two weeks it was still going steadily and my "mate" told me it would be rubbish so the best thing to do is put it through his still ( don't think it's legal to own one so maybe it wasn't  ) this he did for me and at the first test it was over 60% so he halved it added some water tasted like nothing so added a glug of cordial. It is now 30% (so he tells me) tastes non alcoholic and if it's right , I have 2 reasonably tasty but incredibly cheap/inexpensive bottles of spirits.

In the UK it is legal to own one for water distillation but highly illegal to distil alcohol in it.
