We're sitting here with a bottle of bramble wine and waiting...god its like being in labour again except slightly less painful (though ask me again in the morning..) - I've been nesting too! Made jam, bread rolls and fruit loaf tonight. I'm going to be a mummy!

None of the six eggs we were incubating for our friend were fertile, but four of our six were. Those four had developing chicks in them but it looks like incorrect temperature was the problem (and the automatic turner didn't seem to perform very well). The thermometer we got with the incubator is very hard to read and we're not confident that it's very accurate. Time to get a new one.
It's a learning experience I suppose, and we're preparing to try again, it was just sad to see the four chicks that could have been cheeping around the brooder by now.
