...Aww, this is the first of our Cream Legbar chicks that hatched yesterday  . Another hatched this morning. I think we are lucky as they both appear to be female - although anyone more in the know please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi OJ,

I don't know much either, I am just relying on this website:

http://www.creamlegbar.co.uk/

ours have the 'eyeliner' and dark stripes. Or perhaps it is just wishful thinking? :dontknow:

Hmm..interesting,let us know how prolific they are(should be pretty hardy if they do well up there, cos blackrocks are pretty good, and I'm pretty sure they originate from there too).

http://chirpychicks.com/cream_legbar.htm is another site with a better picture of the chicks.

Where your predictions correct?

Definitely lucky. Our last hatching of Scots Greys resulted in 11 cockerels and one hen. Lots of chicken dinners but not many eggs in prospect.

my bad luck is always too many boys, not enough girls...cant bring myself to slaughter the boys, so they go off to a friends house when they mature

Yep predictions thankfully correct - the surviving chick was definitely female, sadly the first one to hatch failed to thrive - only reached half the size of the later one and hardly any feathers (the ones it had were all curly and deformed), and died over easter :(
