Use the soil from the pond I dug ?

The whole reason for the selfsufficientish website was to offer a place where anyone can ask, HOW DO I...? So who knows why it has taken us so long to have a HOW DO I? section, but here it is. So if you want to know how to do anything selfsufficientish then here is the place to ask.

Use the soil from the pond I dug ?

Post: # 241636Post deb13b »

Well, my OH dug the hole, not me ! We're making a wildlife pond in the garden, nothing big or fancy, but I now have a HUGE pile of soil from the hole my OH dug. What the hell can I use this soil for ? I have no transport to take it anywhere and there must be something I can do with it, surely ? There's nowhere in the garden I can put it. I would say there's a few barrows full altogether.

Helpful suggestions only, no silly ones lol !

Raised beds come to mind, most people have the opposite problem when they want to make some raised beds.
Make a rock garden, terrace your back garden, make a south facing bank and plant it up with spring bulbs and primroses, fill that big hole you have in your garden .... sorry

Put it on freecycle! We needed soil as the house we hav moved to had a stoned garden area so we needed soil to sow a real garden for the kids! We r getting some of freecycle, someone in the same position as urselves. We r bagging it for transport. Someone out there will be very grateful for it. Xx
