Hi from rural worcestershire!

Post: # 242236Post mousenose »

Hello, my name is Lauren. I live in rural worcestershire with my husband and son and our two cats. We live in a rustic 19th century house without all the mod cons! We are renting and have been here since Feb. I am determined to be self sufficientish. We have a large garden and established orchard with apples, plums, damsons, pears and hazlenuts. I have never done any gardening before and want to improve my weed patch with a bountiful harvest next year!

look forward to 'meeting' you. :grouphug:

Hi there and welcome
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Hi Lauren from over by Bromyard way.

If you want to get a head start for your weedy patch to turn it into a veg plot why not see if you can get some farmyard manure, or stuff from a stableyard, or spent mushroom compost, or the black compost from the Waste recycling place. Tip it on the ground where you want your beds to be and cover it with black polythene, or even old plastic feed sack or silage bags split open (ask one of the farmers, as I think they have to pay to have there polythene waste removed now) Peg it down with bits of bent wire, and come next spring a lot of it will have been taken down by the worms, and it should have killed off most of the weeds over the winter.

All the best
Sue
