Preparing Duck Feathers

Post: # 245939Post The Riff-Raff Element »

It being the Sunday after Michaelmas, and notwithstanding the 32°C we've had today, the first duck of Autumn (a 3kg bruiser, so fat he couldn't fly) has been knocked over the head, plucked, gutted, has suffered the indignity of having fruit shoved up his bum, and is even now roasting away at Regulo 6.

As always, I feel guilt at throwing the feathers into the hot composter: I should be filling pillows or something with them. But how exactly does one go about preparing them for use?
