We've got planning permission to build a house in our woods
We've not been on the forum for a while because it's all been a bit manic, but:
After 3 and a half years of living in a caravan, we've been granted planning permission to build a house. We hope that this is our last winter in the caravan.
Now just the small matter of finding the money and building a house.
We are very happy!!!!!!!!

The structure will be timber. As it'll be off grid, it'll have solar electric (12v) and solar and wood heating.

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.

We've made charcoal for a documentary called "Tales from the Wildwood" for BBC4. It comes out in October, but our episode is aired in November.
It was great fun, but having experienced how long it takes to do anything for the TV cameras, the last thing that we want to do is film the build.

How exciting. Please do film the build, even if it's just the odd photo for us. I'd love to do a project like that.
Good luck

After a number of delays, we've finally got started and have got the reed bed partly dug and the septic tank on site. This is a fairly odd photo:Thomzo wrote:How exciting. Please do film the build, even if it's just the odd photo for us. I'd love to do a project like that.

Nice photo! Do you still need a septic tank when you have a reed bed? I've no clue about these things, as you may notice...
Good luck with the building.

The reed bed purifies liquids, but first you have to get seperate the solids and that is what a septic tank does.
