Hey, was I surprised when my brother invited me to meet him in London next month! He lives in Hollywood, California and I live in Seattle, so this is a big deal and my first chance to see him since July of '05.

I'll be in England a week or so starting the 16th; and if anyone has any suggestions for where to go, or if anyone would mind a visitor or a mate at the pub please let me know!!! All I'm taking are a half dozen little dresses so they won't think I'm hiding anything. No luggage.

I love animals and gardening, anyone have any to show off???

Hey, Cheyenne - don't suppose you'll be going via Scotland?

I'm sure some of the "southeners" will manage to meet up with you...

But, is London really such a suitable place for a meeting of two people who live in Hollywood and Seattle respectively? Nothing a bit nearer than that?
I think there must be another reason behind the trip...

Reason necessary to visit London?

Post: # 30156Post cheyenne »

Weell, yes, my brother is attending a wine developers' conference near London. It's quite a small affair. But my sister-in-law didn't want to travel with a three-year-old, hence my lucky invite.

And of course, I'd love to visit Scotland but unless there's a cheap cheap way of getting there, it'll have to wait 'til next time!

Do they do wine tastings as well? I've never had English wine as yet - doesn't seem to make it up north, but I'd like to try one of these days...

Scottish wine is, of course, purely fruit and leaves.

leaves??

Post: # 30254Post cheyenne »

Oh, right, my great uncle Roy used to make dandelion wine--that used leaves, but he also made rose wine, presumably from the petals or maybe the hips? and potato wine, all the berries, probably half the vegetables...I want to make blackberry wine from all the vines I see from my office window. We only have one big wine-making bottle left, all the other ones are cracked and you need two to make the stuff, don't you?

Has anyone else made rose wine?

Ina, is that your goat?

No, that's one of my friend's kids a couple of years ago. She breeds cashmere goats - same as mine, but neither of mine is white. There was a photo on the livestock forum, some time ago, I think the thread was called Photos of livestock... Have to see if I can find it.
