Whilst cleaning up some spilt blackberry cordial off the living room carpet and thinking that it will at least match up with the other stains I got to thinking its a messy life being ssish! I am just messy? Does anyone else suffer from never getting a full damage deposit again?

I thought that too... but from the other comment... are you renting Andy'???

I've lost track of the number of carpets we've had cleaned before moving... try having a daughter that spills hair colour on the carpet... red wine... make up... etc etc!

Actually.. I took a photo of one red wine spill on the carpet cos it looked soooooooo cool.... just call it art!

Oh yes renting and the council has banned the use of carpets on allotments. I wonder if my letting agent would accept it as art - I could tell her that it is now worth more

I have tiles everywhere except the bedrooms and my stairs are wood. Given the mess that drops on my floor (or is left by the cats - dead mouse exuding blood a few minutes ago :( ) I can never understand how people have carpet in their kitchen, hall, stairs or living rooms! We have carpets in the bedrooms (not my choice) and they get stained enough (husband spilling tea; cats throwing up  ). I hate carpet!

I bet none of you have had the mess we had to clear up from carpet though - two weeks worth of stone marten poo all in a nice neat pile. Don't ask!

Hee hee, I've even got photos of it! You think I'm mad don't you? It's a bit of a long story but I posted on a French forum asking for a wildlife bloke's help in IDing some headless critters found in my garage and worse, what might be ripping the heads off these poor critters.

To cut a long story short, the critters were baby hares, and the culprit was a stone marten (they are common in France). It's been whizzing around inside the walls of my house intermittently for several months. Anyway, there is a 'dressing' or store room off a bedroom on our top (2nd) floor where some boarding in a corner had been taken out months before when the pipes that ran through there froze up - so there was a nice little hole for said marten to get in through.

My husband went up there to board up the hole (he'd actually found time to do it) and nearly walked into the pile of poo. Yes it had been about 2 weeks since I'd been in that room. :pale:

He found it so he got to clean it up!!! It still smells though!

Now who wants to see the photo?

I thought my slugs were bad as photos. Poo pics take the biscuit! (do we have a 101 list of gross SSF photos?)

I don't have carpet downstairs, all laminated boards. Easy with kids around. The carpets that are in the boys rooms are ruined and the stair carpet looks pretty dead too!
If in doubt ~ use a hammer!

I too am a big fan of laminate. Of course, if money were no object I'd have reclaimed wood boards, beeswaxed. But until I win the lottery (which I won't because I don't do it) we'll stick with laminate - affordable flooring you can scrub.
