A Country Life - Where's it gone???

Post: # 31543Post Imp »

I tried logging into A Country Life forum for a recipe I recall seeing on there from a while ago (it was a war time one)... it's gone!

Sorry to bring up another forum here but I just wondered why because it appeared to be thriving last I looked

I like them over there actually and they did a good job of letting people know about us when we first started!

I imagine that they must be moving servers or something, that's what it looks like to me anyway. When I did it it took about 2 days or so before normal service was resumed.

There was some sort of bust-up and the site was shut down - don't know what exactly but I've now heard that from three people.

Oh no! What a pity, there was a lot of interesting and helpful advice on there with many knowledgeable members (as here).

I had been reading the Ed's war time diets with interest but not been able to catch up with it for a while due to committments.

So will it come back again? Why would a bust up between members stop a forum - that sort of thing happens on forums. Sounds a bit wierd.

Members were asked what we did and didn't like about the site. Replies got heated and personal in some cases. Don't know if this caused the plug pull though.

Woo hoooo!

Carolyn (Ed) has explained what happened, Stonehead was right, there was a forum issue that got out of hand and turned nasty. :(

Can't post on the forum or PM yet but will watch out for that.

I got so much support on that site when I got my ducks and chooks. Nobody laughed when I thought my chicken had a growth and it turned out to be a full crop either

And I asked whether the vent was the place they laid eggs out of or pooped out of!!! The reply started "You're gonna love this........"

OMG I think I remember reading that post

When I joined I read EVERY post on that forum, felt well prepared to look after chooks after that... then the chicken ate all the corn and I asked 'that' question

I think we can learn a valuable lesson from what went on at ACL. I do respond to pm's (more than emails) when people are getting into a tiz about something and will try and divert or disapate the anger that sometimes errupts on forums. So if you see any posts gettitng heated and think they need a hose down don't be afraid to pm me about it.

Mind you I think this forum works pretty well as we all seem to get along, I hope I have not spoken too soon!

It's lovely here too Andy

ACL and Selfsufficientish are the ONLY forums I subscribe to (oh, and my horsey one but that doesn't count here :geek: ).

I pick forums that have the same 'feel' as here, nice and friendly and supportive. That's the whole point of them, non?

Yes of course that is point of them and that is what we try to be. I do like the way that our members will treat new and old members the same, I once subscribed to an MSN self sufficiency group and found that I was ignored as I did not post in the hello bit. I did not know you had to!!
