I'm getting by. The dentist finally drained and flushed the abscess last week (I'd already done it twice myself - don't worry, sterilised kit) and downgraded the antibiotics to anti-bacterials.
I suspect that's it for the moment, even though the infection and pain are both ongoing if less bad. I believe the expression is "the condition is being managed".
As for the stomach condition, it's also continuing to be painful and inconvenient but again it's less bad (which is not saying much). The GP is still awaiting the sample results back - apparently it can take some time.
So, I just get on with doing what I do, try to avoid taking painkillers as much as possible (mainly of an evening every second day or so when I need some sleep), and continue being a grumpy old git.
We had the neighbouring farmer's wife pop over last night and, by way of a joke, suggested I pull the teeth (yes, the abscess has now spread from one to three teeth) myself with a pair of pliers. The OH jumped in immediately and said " don't give him ideas".
And for those people who can't believe the Scottish NHS can be like that, well, it is in our experience. So, before I get scores of messages criticising me for being annoyed with the NHS, consider if you'd like to be in my shoes and, no, it's not an isolated incident in our experience.

Re: Get well soon stoney
As well as being ill and being extremely busy around the croft, I'm not posting much any more anyway. I'm deliberately not offering advice, not describing our experiences, not describing how to do things, and trying hard not to be drawn into threads about issues. It causes too much hassle and life's too short.Andy Hamilton wrote:not seen you on here for a while.- forgive me if I am wrong.

NHS dentistry is certainly not the best, I apparently have had a tooth broken at the root for years and it has only just been noticed. Been in and out since before christmas basically to clear up my previous dentists shoddy work.
anyway, it will be a shame if you stop posting as I apprechiate you sharing your knowledge, but if it is just winding you up then you are right life is too short. I totally understand.
IF it is any consulation all the years that I have had which have started off a bit crappy have been pretty good years in the end. I hope things get sort out for you soon.
The romans used to chew on yarrow to eleviate toothache, might be worth a go.
Take care chap.

Been there, done that. Mine was found by way of routine xray from a new dentist who them almost swore at the mess that had been made to that tooth and the others leaving me unable to eat properly. The root eventually went bad and I got an abscess, which fortunately for me I had treatment and removal of.Andy

stoney sorry to hear about your teeth. My dad used to pull his out himself with pliers and would get into such a state of shaking and sweating. His was fear of the dentist though and yours isn't.
Please do post on here once in a while.
I often pop in for a read even though I don't post myself very often these days. It's just so inspirational.

Sorry, but no. Far too often when I say what we've been doing or achieved, people see it as me getting one up on them, showing them up, intimidating them, asserting my superiority, and so on.albert onglebod wrote:Please do post on here once in a while.

I used to get it when I was an employee, too. Work hard, get the job done and meet deadlines, and it was seen as you showing up everyone else.
I just work hard, enjoy what I do and put in 150% all the time because that's me, but that's not how many people see it. I guess it's a cultural thing, but I don't care for the hassle that comes with simply talking or writing about what we do, so I'm not going to bother other than on my blog. (And there, I automatically delete all the rubbish comments about showing other people up, being intimidating or scary, etc.)
