If anyone else wants to give it a go, use the same ingredient proportions and timings as a white loaf (setting 1 on my Morphy Richards), and I use a third of a proper 1gm vitamin C tablet...........works a treat!

Spelt bread in a breadmaker!
having read various net posts giving totally contrary views on spelt flour, and the general advice not to even try baking spelt bread in a breadmaker, I raised a Churchillian salute, and gave it a go! I'm sitting here eating a lovely moist slice of 100% spelt bread..........

I'm just hoping that the claims that it is easier to digest than conventional wholemeal bread are true! - Since acquiring the breadmaker, and regularly baking wholemeal loaves, I found that I was suffering from a lot of uncomfortable bloating and gripes - a couple of days with white bread caused it to subside, so it's fingers crossed for the spelt!

-a couple of updates on it - I've found a particularly nice organic spelt flour, in of all places, Waitrose! - from these people - http://www.bacheldremill.co.uk/index.htm - and it has now become our bread of choice!
Overall, I'm really chuffed - the bread is really nice to eat, and best of all really does seem to be loads easier to digest - my wife and daughter report "no bloating'' after eating it, unlike many breads which they tend to avoid, and I am now bloat and gripe-free!

Thats a real handy one to know. I have just been diagnosed with Ceoliac Disease and was recommended Spelt. The ready baked loaves I tried were not nice. *retch* We have a local mill (Letheringsett Mill) that sells Spelt flour. So I'll definately b giving it a go after your message.
Cheers
