Freecycle
Lots of baby things offered on my local group too, but as long as that's in the subject line it's easy to sort through the new messages. Anything with baby/ childrens/ computer/ 15 - 19" etc in the subject gets deleted without me opening it (15 -19" because it's always a monitor or tv, neither of which I need).
Our Freecycle is very quiet, when I joined I scoured the house for things to give away, to liven things up a bit!
I found it funny that no-one wanted our '60's cocktail cabinet, but I had 3 replies for the cardboard banana boxes we used when we moved house, which we had got for free from the supermarket!

Freecycle
Yes, quite often here you see moving boxes wanted. My friends and I scour the local auto parts, liquor stores and the grocery store for boxes and usually come home with a carload for free!
I'm down to the last of the junk here, not much more to offer, I'm going to do one more house-clean and call it quits on giving stuff away for a while and concentrate on getting the things we need, but so far, from my latest post for wire and building supplies-which was yesterday-nothing
And ours is a big group, and other stuff is going, I guess everyone has the building bug these days and is using whatever spare bits they have.

Don't know who it was that posted a link to dontdumpthat.com, but i've applied to be a moderator for out local area. There's 17 people who want a forum there apparently.
Should be good. With that and freecycle hopefully, i'll be able to get rid of the crap that i own that's still useable :)

I use freecyle, in fact I picked up a lovely compost bin at the weekend from there.
I use it to get ring of my stuff that I no longer need, I just don't like some of the emails you get when you offer your goods. One for example I received last week was "I want your hamster cage, please give me your address!" - What a cheek! A bit of politeness would be nice! lol

The constant wanteds annoy me.
There's a bloke on our local freecycel who must have furnished his house, his garden and a full-on computer arcadr jusdging by what he wants all the time!
I've always thought that its fine to ask once, but not repeatedly, and then, make sure that you offer regularly as well.

The problem is that our local TV did a feature on it and they did furnish a flat from freecycled furniture. It kind of gave the impression that it was OK to do that.
I guess a lot of people might answer wanted messages but you won't see that. So it might look like they are always on the take but you don't know how much they have also given away.
At the end of the day it's your choice if you answer a wanted message. People aren't going to give stuff away unless they want to get rid of it. Also you never know what of your rubbish might be useful to others.
