Okay, I know they are slimy and horrible and they eat your veg and fruit. yeah it's annoying but killing them (no matter how tempting that might be) to me is just not going to be on my list of things to do
1) I am FAR too lazy to go out in my garden at night with a torch searching for them
2) If I DID manage to find one I would have a hard time convincing myself to touch one much less squish it
3) I would have to face the gooey mess in the morning and I couldn't stand the guilt
I am trying the copper stuff and see if that works, far more gentle and I can get my beauty sleep. LOL
I really don't like killing things. I even have my poor partner take wee spiders outside because squishing them would be mean. Besides they only live for a few days....Hey Beach Grove garden is on...MUST GO!

Actually, there's unlikely to be a gooey mess the next morning. They either melt away, returning the goodness they borrowed into the earth, or their friends come and sup on them (I've seen snails and slugs crawling over their dead bretheren before and I don't think they were trying the kiss of life!).
I think slugs and snails have their place in the scheme of things, chewing on dead and decaying plant matter and breaking it down, but woe betide the ones that make the mistake of straying onto cultivated soil!

The perfect antidote to the 101 ways to kill a slug!!
I am touching wood as I type this but we've not had too many slug problems here. I think that the ducks and the chooks might just be helping to limit the slug population here.

Slug Pubs!
They die happy. And you don't have to touch them.
You can make pubs with sugar solution instead, then empty the pub onto the nearest bird table and they'll eat the remains.
I did that once and found a frog in it though, so i've gone back to cheap beer and chucking them on the compost heap the next day.
