Scythe

Post: # 57317Post matty »

Hope someone in Blighty can help me out here... have just come over to UK form Ghana for a short trip and am looking to get a European Scythe, with bells and whistles - peening kit and stone - but am not here long enough to mailorder one. Was told onthe phone a few days ago I could get one in a John Deere shop (by a guy working there, as picking up blades cant get in Ghana for mower...)- which i was very surprised and delighted at. But pissed off when i found out today (but not surpirsed) that they dont sell them. He meant a "petrol powered scythe" (where is the angry/pissed off emoticon?)... SO, i know that Nev got one here a while back, but was it mailordered? Anyone know where i can find one in sussex area? And while i am here, tea-bag making kit? Corn cobber? Am out of touch with shops... Things seem to be more health orientated and organic etc, but is it available to the everyman easily? am not holding my breath though on this... BUT have got a nice big fat order form Real Seeds!
Cheers
matt

Hey Matty!

I acually bought my scythe in Belgium. They appear to be available from most hardware shops over there so you might try a local hardware where you are......

Good luck!

Well, I found a place selling scythes in France, near Nantes - and they were sold out! Which is great as means they are still popular. Getting one sent though by a friend from there now. Also found the corn sheller in there! 60euros, which is good. They were $180 from Lehmans, excluding VAT and transport... But I tried to take the 6kg cast iron sheller as carry on the plane back, and, well. it was worth a try. am getting it sent out otherwise. Could not put it in hold, as would had spares in there already. But managed to leave all the cheese in the fridge, and got the pate confiscated at customs...It was semi solid you see....But they let me go on withchewing gum, which could far mroe easily be C4...Nevermind. Got some nice loppers wiht spring on them too... So i was happy. Just thought i would update that thread...
