Hiya- fae a wee place in Scotland!

Hello....I am not sure what to write - dont want to talk too much about myself. We have a smallholding here in Strathmore...about 5 acres now. Animals include 2 horses (floyd and shelby), 3 dogs (Maddie, Sunny and Oddy-Asbo), dont knowhow many cats, 20 hens including 2 cockerals (Tom and Rory)...Three chicks reapeared with mother hen the other day. One Muscovey Duck called Matilda. One husband and two large teenage children....must be all the manure!

The ground holds greenhouses, vegetable gardens, a nissan hut to house the winter hay and straw, stables, and numerous sheds. We also have a small orchard with apples pears, plums, peaches, figs, and grapes.

I work full time as a nurse and spend spare time on the animal side of things. A awful lot of time is spent on the livestock.. .My husband has now taken over most of the gardening...under my supervision of course!

I am stuck at home with a broken wrist at the moment so I am catching up on some of the research on ssishing! this site looks like fun, looking forward to talking to you all. Pikilily

Hi Pikilily, Welcome to the forum. As you can see I am underneath. I was in Scotland in the '60s. Two weeks in Edinburgh and four in Ayr. Loved it.

Hi and welcome! You must be really busy with that set up - sounds like a full time job even without having a full time job (if you see what I mean)! Just hope your family are doing all the chores and waiting on you hand and foot whilst you recuperate!

Hello from another bit of Scotland - I'm in Aberdeenshire and we've got ducks, chooks, geese and goats... it's all go at the moment... lots of chicks, new goslings, and our duck is sitting on eggs that are due shortly.

Hope the wrist isn't giving you too much grief... make the most of the help from your husband - by the time your wrist is fixed he'll be an expert

oh poor you poorly wrist ... get some Comfrey oil massged above anf below the plaster will help heal quicker and if you know a homeopath ... they are great at healing broken bits from the inside ... oh sorry Hello

Wrist is still sore...but thats my own fault because I cant stop myself from doing silly things like trimming hedges and cleaning out the hen house....and of course this is all in the rain....ummmm i supose everything we do is in the rain these days.

Keep on looking out for that yellow thing in the sky -it is supposed to be good for us occasionally.

Hey it happened...we had a day of NO rain, plenty of yellow rays and a good dose of wind to dry things off.....yippeeeeeeee. spent the whole day oooot the hoose soaking it all up
