This is the place to discuss not just allotments but all general gardening problems and queries which don't fit into the specific categories below.
(formerly allotments and tips, hints and problems)
I did a bit of a mini experiment this week and washed my hair in hot water only all week. I don't like the feel of my hair not washed but in water only it seemed just like shampooing only less dry. Admittedly I ahve short hair so it's less of a problem. Going to keep trying ont his one. Think I might also have a go at this soap making, even though it is still chemicals there's an element of freedom here that gets you excited!
I am trying to source some of the Shampoo soap I have read about on this thread hopefully I will get it this week.
One thing I have noticed I am taking fish oil tablets and my hair seems to be a lot softer and shinny I think that it may be the tablets as soon to be hubby is on them and he normally has unruly dry hair and it has started to behave it's self. So I call it the conditioner from within
I'm new here, but thought I would join in on this one.
I have long hair, down to my bum!!
I wash it once a week unless it is very dirty. I have tried washing it less and less over the years, I used to wash my hair every day!
I have found that if you gradually wash it less and less over months, eventually you can get away with washin git less! Make sense??
My theory is that the body excretes the grease etc to maintain the skin and hair folicles, if you wash it away it produces more to replace. I suspect that the body needs time to adjust, so if you go from washing your hair every day to once a week you will end up with a grease ball, but if you do it every other day for a month, and then the following month every two days, then you will see some improvement. etc. etc.
With bathing, we all have a bath night - Sunday, we all have a good wash everyday, but will have a shower or bath if particularly dirty in the week.
I do need to source one of those hosepipe things to reuse the bath water in the garden!
Sue
I have one of those hose pipes with the copper in the end to jiggle it in the water and it syphons it out . Try a carparts shop I am not sure what they call it over your way we call it supercheap Auto
Busy thinking about making soap....I also hear you can make household cleaning products- for bathroom, kitchen, floors etc from vinegar- does anyone know how? And is there a substitue for washing up liquid?
There are some excellent books on green cleaning products.
I recommend Clean House, Clean planet, The Cleaning Encyclopaedia, and anything by Kim and Aggie!!
I did the no shampoo thing for the first four months of this year, my hair was great by the end. I only needed to use baking soda once when it was really oily.
I then used the shampoo once without thinking and have been using it about once a week since - time to cut it out again - my scalp is really itchy now.
