Thank you for being 'normal'

Post: # 79201Post QuakerBear »

I frequent a couple of other forums and in the last couple of days I've had some bad experiances. Shockingly aggressive remarks and even name calling, which has actually upset me a little, especially as much of it has come from Friends (Quakers)!

I've just returned to 'ish and realised I've never seen anything similar on this site so I'd just like to say well done and thank you to everyone for behaving in a civilised, polite and good humoured way, despite differences of opinions. You chaps are a shining example of what I've always hoped for from those I meet and what I'd like to see more on the internet and in society in general. You put allot of others to shame.

Big hug, everyone

Great point well made QuakerBear. I spend a fair amount of time on Web Technology type forums for work purposes and I find SSish a real tonic away from the nonsense, bragging, name calling and one-up-manship...

...warm glow all-round for SSishers :)

This is one of the best forums that I'm a member of - I think those based on like-mindedness are the best

I do take exception to being called 'normal' though

I agree. There are only two that I frequent on a regular basis because their relative anonymity seems to bring out the worst in a lot of people.

I am surprised at Quakers though. They must be pretending to be Quakers!

We mods and admin do try our best, but it is definitely the quality of people we have here at SSish that makes the difference!

I second that Nev!

This is the only forum that i love so much that i'll moderate! The people make it easy to do a good job, and the other mods are a great bunch too.

Without sounding soppy and girly (again...) i love you all!! There are very few people even in 'real' life that i feel are true friends, and i feel that a lot of the people on Ish are true friends.

That's just what I feel about it... Nowhere else have I've had the feeling that I can be accepted even if I have a different opinion - somehow we always manage to agree to disagree here, and that's so important!

Still feel abit weird about making friends on the internet  , I tell people I am a member of an online community, rather than a chat forum.
