Illuminous spots on pickled onions!

You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

Post: # 83871Post Helsbells »

Help!!

Pickled some onions a few weeks ago and now there are illuminious yellow spots on some of them! Can anyone tell me if this means they have had it?
Thanks

I've seen that before too - and I've eaten them without ill effect - really - there isn't anything wrong with me I promise............

They'll be fine.. it's apparently some harmless chemical reaction. I've eaten them before.

everytime me or my mum has made them we get this problem. it really is harmless. I had cheese and home pickled onion sarnies for the best part of a year as a kid and no ill effects- after the first jar of having to slice them for the sarnies though my mum took to pickling onion slices lol!

mmmmmm pickled onions.
oh how I love my tea, tea in the afternoon. I can't do without it, and I think I'll have another cup very
