Icing sugar emergency...HELP!

Post: # 91287Post Annpan »

I have found, when coming to ice my easter biscuits, that I have no icing sugar...

I have various types of other sugars... any suggestions

Can I grind down caster sugar to make icing sugar, or is that crazy talk???

I know I can make a chocolate coating with golden syrup, but E can't eat chocolate so I was hoping for an alternative.

Obviously I could leave them un-iced... but they look so pretty with icing on.

HELP!!!

As long as you can get the particle size down to "powdery", you should be OK - although I would add a little cornflour as well. I've no real idea how much, but the equivalent of a couple of teaspoonsful per pound of sugar sounds about right.

Yes, I would just try to whizz up normal sugar... The worst that can happen is that it doesn't dry up properly! And then you'll have sticky biscuits instead of sticky buns...

A friend of mine always used to create caster sugar or icing sugar from granulated suger. Just bash to bits in the food processor. Should be fine.
