As a child I had a paperback copy of the hobbit which my daughters then read and re-read. Recently my daughter, now married, who'd borrowed it again, replaced it with a new copy because she felt she had worn out my old one. It's just not the samered wrote:what you are saying is... some people *do* judge books by their covers.Eigon wrote:As a second hand bookseller, those comments give me the shivers!
In fiction, at least, removal of the dustwrapper can half the re-sale value of the book. Collectors like to buy old books in as close to the condition when they were new as possible. Even a tatty dustwrapper is better than no dustwrapper at all!
but, my books are not for collecting, they are for using. and when you read (ie use) a book that has a dust sheet, it flaps about and is annoyng.. imo, so it is getting in the way, hindering the very point of the item it is protecting.
anyhow, each to their own

anyone, feel free to post a review on the net about our book. There are two pretty good ones on Amazon so far.

My copy arrived today Just wish it was a signed one but finances are tight & I used an Amazon voucher.
Not letting myself read it until all my chores are done today (although I've sneaked a look at some bits!).

Re: The Self-sufficientish Bible
good luck! You can get it delivered to your nearest post office, then just pick it up there. I think there is a fee though.Jared wrote:The stupid postman keeps trying to deliver mine when nobodys home, even though I keep requesting saturday redeliveries, fingers crossed for this saturday.
Fair enough, I hope it saves you what you spent on it. We wanted it to be cheaper but the publishers had other ideas. Anyway, might have to try and arrange a meet up signing day at some point, in the midlands could have a forage too.Ratty wrote:My copy arrived today Just wish it was a signed one but finances are tight & I used an Amazon voucher.

Re: The Self-sufficientish Bible
I love my copy and have shown it to anyone who will be interested so I'm definitely spreading the word!
I wanted to suggest a Midlands meet-up as there seems to be a few people on here who are either in Leics, Notts or Derbyshire. I'd be happy to host one in my back garden here in Nottingham and always welcome an opportunity to forage too!

Re: The Self-sufficientish Bible
If there was to be a book signing/foraging meet in the midlands and we northerners wanted to come would there be a place to stay or pitch a tent??
