Post: # 109488Post andiewill »

i have grown some gardiners delight tomatoes, thats planted outside and they have taken well, getting bushy by the day but no signs of flowers.

is it too early for them to flower ?

they have been outside for approx 2 months but the plants look very healthy.

Yes, could be a bit early. Mine are barely in flower and I'm in France.

Also, I surprised they've been outside for 2 months .. mine haven't. Do you have a good micro climate going on in Bristol?

I've been watching HFW and the group smallholding in Bristol - lovely to see people re-connecting with their food in this way, especially the fella who "doesn't do veg".

My plants are about 20cm tall now - on the window sill, on a heated propagator bottom... Shows you how different the climate is up here.

Mine went out last week at about 10 inches tall, they're just starting to show the first tiniest buds. Not Gardener's Delight though as I thought I'd bought some seeds, but hadn't, so I'm growing Sub Arctic Plenty as I'd acquired a packet free from somewhere. Gardener's Delight are great though, they're almost impossible to kill so you'll probably have some flowers soon.

thanks for the reply and the answer to climate, the Bristol weather has been great, very sunny when its out and the bits of rain compliment the gardening. no serious downpours but when it has happened much awaited and apprieciated.

my toms are approx 2 ft high and growing. and just to state that my purple brocs / cabbages / corn / even pepers are doing fine all in a raised bed except the spuds which are in tyres which i started late, but are starting to show through ready for me to plant my seconds in the next tyre.

i am quite pleased with results as this is my first year at this, did try to experiment last year to no avail. ( toms were a no show i think i had about 3).

You have flower buds on them!!! They look rather congested though.
