Prickly pear cactus cuttings

Post: # 116641Post possum »

Prett hardy and it survives outside over winter where we are, we have just aquired a really old one, which in the process of getting it home had to have a severe pruning, although I will take several cuttings, there reall are far too many for my needs, so if anyone wants any, get in touch. The pads are also edible, but the amount I now have would take us a year or more to eat.
Opinionated but harmless

I put a load of diced 'leaves' at the bottom of the hole I dig for planting courgettes. It provides the roots with water as they reach down, and there's a noticable spurt in growth.

hmm, never thought of that - the amount I have would definitely enrich the new veggie border I am building.
