Olive oil polish

Just tidying my dining room (told you I would do it one day...)

I had a few bags kicking about in there, a small black leather handbag (The only 'lady' handbag I own... only used it at funerals and weddings ) and a 60s fake leather vanity case.

Both have seen better days and the vanity case was destined for landfill but I decided to give them a good clean with a damp duster and a polish with olive oil... they have both come up a treat... especially the vanity case which now has a lovely sheen to it...

So that's it, I am sticking to the wonder of olive oil, for all my polishing needs, from now on... lovely

(The more I find out about all the natural cleaning methods the fewer bottles I am having to store in my house )

Couldn't agree more, shop bought sprays are so unnecessary, not to mention chemically-laden and stinky. Try adding some lemon juice to the olive oil (about a third lemon to oil) - works really well and smells lovely.

I use a blend of olive oil, linseed oil and beeswax, with a little lavender EO in for smell. Just like the old-fashioned polish my aunt used to use with out the chemicals so highly prized in the 50s and 60s.

I have been rubbing olive oil on my Dr Martins for about 9 years, yes the same pair, and i wair them almost every day and they are so supple they are like wairing lace up slippers, i also use olive oil in locks and on sqeeky hinges, way better than WD40.
