It's not tonsilitis that I have it's "Strep throat"..... hubby has it too and it HURTS!!!! Little man is covered in chicken pox (even on his rude bits  ) and is so brilliant - he's hardly scratching himself - I tell him to "try not to scratch" and he just asks for more cream.... he's being so great about it.

Ouch

Oh dear, poor you! All the family down... But what is a strep throat? I find the best thing for a really painful throat is propolis tincture. That isn't so easy to come by, but health food shops often sell the propolis throat sweeties. Won't help your little man, though...

All the best, speedy recovery!

Hmmm "propalis" - I'll see if one of us growed ups can take a look at that tomorrow... thanks for the tip. Mine is getting better - slowly - with help from the dreaded anti-biotics, but dh didn't get any.

Strep throat, according to the internet is "Strep throat is an infection caused by bacteria. It is called "strep" because the bacteria that causes the infection is called streptococcus." (familydoctor.org) It blummin' 'urts.

For sore throat you can't beat a Sage gargle. I do this everytime anyone has a sore throat and it is awesome.
In a teapot put a dessertspoonful of Sage, fresh or dried, and add to it a cup of boiling water. Leave for 10 mins. Strain into a mug. You might want to add Honey as it is an acquired taste, but please don't add sugar.
Take a mouthful at a time and gargle for a few seconds, then swallow. Repeat 'til the whole cup has gone. You can do this 3 times a day.

Poor you, but I feel sorriest for the little 'un. Itching like crazy isn't fun. :(

Is it some co-incidence that the Google ads at the top of this page right now are all about chicken pox?

Well hubby and I are feeling a little better, although tired because small squirt slept really badly for the last two nights. However, he has eaten much better today (despite the pox in his MOUTH  ) - and is getting cheekier by the minute, so I'm guessing he's feeling better too. His spots don't look as "angry" as they did and a lot of them are scabbed over. He's still being GREAT at not scratching/rubbing them...

Thanks for all your concern

Thank goodness you only get chickenpox once!

(You're all gonna tell me you've had it twice now, I know!!)

Hope you are all better soon.

Yes, and it,s also a myth that if you,ve had chickenpox you can,t get shingles.

You can

Libby, everything I have read states that you can ONLY get shingles once you've had chicken pox, but not CP twice....

I know that about shingles now.

I,d been led to believe I wouldn,t get it because I,d had CP as a child!
My family are such liars

I,ve only had CP once myself, but a friend who caught it in her 40,s, claims to have had it as a child too.
I,m not making any medical claims

Yeah, I think I've seen something about some people occasionally getting CP more than once - perhaps if they don't get it badly!???

Libby... log in properly woman! Honestly
