I don't,bloody well,believe it!
Whilst planting some garlic this afternoon,i just happened to glance at the PSB, & what did i see? Dozens of young caterpillers, having a good ol' feast!! There must have been some "dormant" egg clusters, that have been brought to life by the recent mild weather. So,don't be complacent,as the buggers aren't finished yet!!
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

I know. I am still squidging them - I now have 4 different kinds of caterpillars living in my PSB but the worst culprit is aphids which have pretty much decimated some of the shoots. Roll on a really heavy frost.

I've not long been back from the lottie and also found them on sprouting as well as my winter cabbages. echo the point about frosts asap apart from needing it to sweeten up the parsnips.

yep same here i did not think they could survive in this frost all over my psb, i think i may give up on this crop dam.

We finally had a hard frost which killed off the nasturtiums and blackened the dahlias but hasn't made a blind bit of difference to the aphids on my PSB.
Found a caterpillar lurking on one too, although I haven't been round my brassicas looking for them to squidge having stupidly imagined the frost would have killed them off - and it's been too wet to do much outdoors anyway.

I've been blaming the chooks for my denuded erm specimens! Thought they must have found a new way in past the chicken wire. Little did I suspect......
