Anyone got a quick "cure" please? Bearing in mind the shops (other than a very small local one)are now closed until Monday morning, I have no Canestan, etc and I'm feeling MISERABLE. I also have no essential oils but can probably come up with most other things anyone could suggest in the way of herbs etc.

I took some acidophilus once cleared it up after a couple of doses - though give that might not be available how about live yoghurt? I've also heard that a garlic clove used as a pessary works

Thanks for that. So, instead of having the planned veggie goulash tomorrow night we are now having chilli and I'm pinching the yoghurt for more important things!

I'vd also tried a warm bath with a cupful of wine vinegar and that seems to help. And I don't appear to smell like a chip shop either...

The old cure was gentian violet- ehm-painted on................. and don't eat much sugar. I really sympathise I was plagued with this. When you can get some acidophilus lacto bacilli - works a treat.

ooh dear ROFLMAO - I'm recalling a neigbour years ago who had no natural yoghurt so she used what she had in the fridge for the children - 'Funny Feet' chocolate yoghurt

double dose the acidophillus. I took 2 capsules in the morning and 2 in the evening.

Also try Aloe Vera -drink the juice and apply the gel. Its antifungal and cooling and soothing. Especially if kept in the fridge!

OK, got that under control and now it's turned into Cystitis. I can't believe this! Now off to the supermarket about 30km away and I don't care if it IS €4 a carton, I'm buying up their supply of cranberry juice!

I don't know if these are regular problems for you. They could be indicative of a more chronic candida problem. Google Dr William Crook and try his questionnaire.

OH and I both did it a few years ago - he scored 150 and I scored 278! We did a strict anti-candida diet and haven't had any trouble since. My GP and gastro-enterologist were both totally dismissive of this, but then nothing they did for me helped so I was rather desperate at the time.

I was having all sorts of weird and not so wonderful symptoms and the medics basically put it down to depression/menopause. Although OH wasn't having any overt problems he felt tons better after (that's fella's eh!). I think he was so used to feeling sub-par that he didn't know it wasn't normal.

No, first time ever for the candida and probably only the second time for the cystitis but I think I've had a really heavy dose of the latter this time!

Things are improving very slightly today (halfway down my second carton of cranberry juice and now three days into a course of antibiotics) but I'm having take painkillers to get any sleep and I feel as if I've been kicked. Not nice...

Just checking....the cranberry juice is sugar-free right? Sugar will make both problems worse.

It does have sugar but it's low down on the ingredients list. As getting it involved a 50 mile round trip I thought I would make do with what I could get. My only other option is a75 mile round trip in another direction to a health food shop I know of on the offchance they have cranberry tablets. I know they have dried cranberries but assume those have sugar added too?

I'm trying to combat any sugar or acidity by taking half a teaspoonful of bicarbonate of soda in a glass of water.

Douching with hydrogen peroxide can help.

This may be too strange, but it's helped many: peel a clove of garlic. Make sure there are no sharp edges. Place it inside high enough so that it won't fall out.
Change garlic cloves daily until infection is gone. Reports I've heard are one week, on average.

Definitely, do not eat sugar or eat white flour. Refined foods and infections go together all too well.

Taking Beta Glucan supplements (Epicor) can help strengthen your immune system enough that you don't get the infections anymore.
