Hello from Soloby Rob

Post: # 135578Post Soloby Rob »

Hello,
my name is Rob and I live in Saltfleetby, Lincolnshire. The local name for Saltfleetby is 'Soloby' hence my user name, Soloby Rob.
I am a true Lincolnshire Yellow Belly, born in Louth, and my family can be traced back for many generations, on the down side, we originally came from France.
Way back in the 80's I was well into self sufficiently, grew all my own grub, had chickens, ducks and geese, I had pigs and goats. Foraged for wild food and fire wood, made my own beer and wine, and then came the ‘well paid job’
I’ve been self employed for the last fifteen years in the motor trade, hate it, and I’m now looking ‘back’ on my good years and I’m going to give it another go.
So! that’s me saying hello. :thumbleft:
I like to think the older I get the wiser I become, but I'm not so sure.

Apparently we came over from Normandy during the 1066 shindig, some of our clan got as far north as Inverness but most settled in the East Midlands, Grantham seemed to be a favorite area.
Thanks for all the welcomes so far, I hope to put as much in as I get out of the forum.
