I'd like to have penpals but rather prefer to know who I am writing with.

I too love writing letters, so this is a great idea.
I started writing to people in my address book last year instead of emails but only got txt or no written reply so lost heart a bit.
The thing about writing to ishers is we do already have basics in common, and that is a good starting point ,
So count me in please

I love writing letters - and getting post that ISN'T a bill !!
I have a Wow addict too - tha'ts why we have a lap top too!
Thank you all for thinking it's a good idea - how about we go for it!! Perhaps we should do it a bit like Mrs F's book swap - names out of a hat - in fact how about those involved with the book swap slip a letter into the book too!

Yes a pen pal would be lovely - but I agree - not an anonymous one. :flower:

I'd love to join in but I'd probably end up boring my penpal to death!

Yep, fantastic idea! So... how we gonna do it then?? Huh?

It might be an idea for all concerned to 'sign up' here, then have one of our lovely admin folks start a PM off gathering addresses....
Maybe once a month names could come out of a hat in pairs & voila..... Just a suggestion....

Fan-bloody-tastic idea!

That sounds great, I would love to do this at some point. Julie's idea of getting people paired up once a month is great as I am going travelling in March so wouldn't really be able to do it until I am back settled down somewhere which won't be until August at the very earliest!

It would be good to have a 'sticky' thread where everyone could just post if they are interested. Possibly admins wouldnt even have to get involved in pairing people up, you could just PM someone who has posted on the thread, saying you are interested in being penpals, and go from there!

My penpal would have to excuse my writing though.........however if I can't start until later on in the year it'll give me time to practise!

what about a set of 3-5 questions as a starting point? so the first letters all have the answers.

i'm ready to start writing.. i'm due to give birth today (although my first two were both late so i don't hold out hope) and have pleanty of time as i'm under instructions to rest! lol

mmm are there more people who would rather start right now instead of having to wait till their names are pulled.
I think it would be ok to pull names but would prefer myself that the people who have already joined this month, will ALL be pulled this month, and the new ones the next month etc.

why are we making this so difficult anyway? :)
let's start writing! we could do for the first letter, indeed a few questions, mainly about interests and introduce yourself or what was the idea behind that?
