earthing up potatoes
when earthing up potatoes is it possible to use grass cuttings to earth up when the potatoes are planted in the ground and not containers?

Can do but not ideal, needs to be fairly dry, clippings sog down fast and you have to keep adding more, in the wet they turn to slime and would rot the spuds.
They may (not sure) have also provided the environment for my green vegetable bug (shield bug) infestation . . .

Last year I planted my potatoes on top of the soil and covered with hay and grass cuttings and had a really good crop, which just needed uncovering, no digging involved! I plan to do the same again this year. I garden on sandy soil, which might make a difference. pbf
