My "smart" Trace inverter has died. It was smart because if you didn't draw any 240V load the inverter went into tickover mode and used only minimal battery juice.
I have tried to fix it and failed. Water damage (cleaned) and a failed resistor (replaced).
So I need a new one.... any ideas where to get a bargain inverter like this in the UK? Something around 250 to 500W would do. I scanned ebay but they are all "stupid" inverters, not really suitable for a permanent setup. Cheap though.

Just trawling this forum and found this old post with no replies. If you're still looking I use a Magnum Energy inverter, which also has the 'tick-over' feature, though they call it a 'search watts' feature.
They're not in the UK, but do export models for 240v 50Hz markets.

I went for a Studer AJ500 in the end
moderately OK. some anomalies that I haven't sorted yet
isn't it strange how the very-friendly salesmen lose interest once the sale is made?

Salesmen are coin operated machines. They only respond to one thing

contact the company direct in Switzerland, they're very helpful and have good English. I'm not familiar with your model but the larger ones are a nightmare to program, however they are fantastic bits of kit. I have a Trace myself but the Studer is a better machine.
Good luck, Paul
