How do I loose my beer belly
This beer belly is getting a little too big, looks like I may have to switch to Gin and Tonic! Anyway, I am sure there are a few blokes out there who have got rid of their bellies so.... How do I loose my beer belly?

Re: How do I loose my beer belly
The Gin and Tonic diet is great - so far I've lost 3 days!
Do you eat a lot? I've found that simply swapping to everything whole wheat as far as I can fills me up more so I tend not to eat between meals. Also eating breakfast - such as a branflakes with fruit helps too, and if I want to eat between meals I try to go for fruit. Good luck!

Re: How do I loose my beer belly
Cutting out the beer, I never thought I would hear myself say this but yep that's got help.
I have been reading up on this one and have found the obvious the more I eat the more I put on weight. So I am going to eat healthier foods, exercise more and well cut out the beer.

Re: How do I loose my beer belly
I signed up for the corporate decathlon at work. Admittedly the darts didn't help with weight loss, but the rest of the activities, dancing, climbing, rugby, highland games, orienteering and more are all good at getting me out and about more without losing my very short attention span. That seems to help.
I've also found I need to keep my mind engaged whilst being active, so long walks, runs and repetitive activity for no constructive purpose cause me absolute misery but having to think about my next move and stuff make the world fo difference in keeping me engaged.
I'm avoiding the no beer option at all costs, but I offer to be the driver which keeps me down to half pint over an evening.
PS: it's taken about 3 months for any change in weight or shape to occur so unfortunately patience has a lot to do with it too!

Re: How do I loose my beer belly
I found exercise to be the best method of keeping a trim beer gut, as a Mediaeval Re-enactor I get plenty of fighting action (or used to) to combat the quantity of beer I consumed in the beer tents
A good 30 - 45 minute workout once or twice a day for the weekend and I came home lighter than when I left for the shows, as a cyclist as well you should do fine if you take the long route to wherever you are going. While sit-ups are a reasonable method of keeping the fat trimmed in the gut region you may need to give your gut that extra push by putting one end of a plank of wood on the chair or sofa and the other end on the floor then doing sit-ups with your feet above your head, the extra incline increases the energy needed a lot and that energy comes from your stored fat. Be careful though or you'll end up with a six pack that all the girls will want to touch and poke ;)
As with any exercise regime make sure you warm up properly first, if you do not warm up first you can and most probably will do yourself an injury.

Or do as my OH did and accept that your six-pack is now a party seven

Himself has actually lost weight in recent years, simply by changing to a more physical job. He used to be sat in front of a computer all day eating biscuits and Mars bars but the pounds fell off when he became a lorry driver after being made redundant. He still has a HUGE appetite but works it off and can pretty much eat what he likes these day!
He also drinks less beer than he used to

Re: How do I loose my beer belly
You don't have to complete lay off the ale. You can just cut down on it.
Dig a pond by hand. Your beer gut will be gone. If you think you might relapse, don't get planning permission, and you can fill the pond back in by hand.

Re: How do I loose my beer belly
The beer belly is probably partly due to bloating caused by food intollerance. Going off gluten for a month will reveal if that is the culprit.
Yoga helps in ways that hard physical exercise often doesn't, by toning and twisting, helping the gut do its job too.
Sitting too much also causes bad posture and weakening of torso muscles,so if you want to really tone down, put a rucksack on your back and do a long distance walk (eating good food) and see the result.
Now, I of course struggle with this same problem and I don't drink beer but because I am lazy and get bored with yoga etc, I fnd the avoidance of gluten, especially wheat the most useful.
Use it or lose it
