found these today not entirely sure what they are
im thinking either oak bolete (boletus appendiculatus)
or iodine bolete (boletus impolitus)??????
found with beech and oak trees a fair bit smaller than penny buns
not sure if you can see in the picture but they have gone slighly blue where ive cut in half
i cant find any similar poisonous species but any help with id or similar poisonous ones much appriciated
p.s im hungry!

They look like red cracking boletes (boletus chrysenteron) to me.

Unfortunately they aren't really worth eating...too soggy and tasteless. Oak Boletes are much bigger and firmer - and tastier - and rarer.alec-ish wrote: p.s im hungry!

Of course, taste is subjective. Although there are undoubtedly better tasting mushrooms, I think small, firm, red cracking boletes are worth eating.
